Artist’s Bio:

In 1996, Nancy started to seriously pursue her interest in art by painting murals and floorcloths with acrylic paints.  This interest evolved into working with watercolours -  painting landscapes and portraits.

She has been a full- time artist since 2003 when she returned to school to study Art and Illustration.  This formal education improved her technical skills and increased her interest in drawing the human form.  Nancy includes people in many of her paintings and continues to do life drawing and sketching of nudes regularly.

Nancy moved from Ontario to Victoria in February 2007 and has found the West coast scenery and the Fairfield area to be very inspiring.  Since moving here, she has been concentrating on painting with acrylic on canvas.  Most of Nancy's work is accomplished in her studio on Pender Island,  one of the Southern Gulf Islands.  The tranquility and proximity to nature allows her to focus and she is able to accomplish a lot when she is there.

"My work is easily accessible and my purpose is not complicated.  I paint things that evoke emotions in myself and hopefully the viewer."

Nancy's style is evolving into  simpler, bolder forms with lots of colour and contrast.  Her work  often depicts local scenes and memories of Ontario, Seattle, Maui, and Tofino.
